Ronaldsay tops
Natural wool tops made from seaweed - well, made by sheep from seaweed. This is really something completely different. It comes exclusively from the rare sheep which live on the beaches of North Ronaldsay in the Orkney Islands. The sheep live almost exclusively on seaweed and due to the conditions and their diet produce this unique wool. Unlike other sheep, but like cashmere goats, llamas and camels, they produce 2 coats.
The coarse guardhair is removed during processing and what is left is a white, natural black or, when blended, grey, light and incredibly springy fibre. It is really bulky, light and different. The 'black' can vary from light brown to very dark brown depending on the fleeces.
